Makerspaces & STEAM Labs: Creation and Programming

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

A casual chat with two school librarians about starting a Makerspace or Steamlab in a public school setting. This innovative education movement fosters cross-curriculum planning, collaboration, team building and creates makers instead of passive users. Find out why you need to join the maker education movement by participating in this lively discussion and gather startup resources, funding ideas and a year's worth of maker programming. Learn how to make connections with your community.

Objectives:

1) Empowering educators to begin their own makerspace journey with students. Startup resources will be shared with specific resources and programming to complement maker supplies.

2) Reasoning behind the need to prepare students for a job market that has yet to be defined and resources to accomplish this complicated task.

3) Giving you a comprehensive toolkit to inspire the makers and tinkerers that will be the innovators of the future.
