Let's Talk About Race and Equity in Education

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

The most dangerous conversation about race is the one we're not having as an education community. Join Michelle Molitor, founder of Fellowship for Race & Equity in Education (FREE), to learn about the effects of systemic racism on our schools and the longer term effects on students and families of color. Participants will have the opportunity to have conversations, building their discourse confidence in talking about the most taboo of American subjects, race.

Objectives:

1) Discuss why the education community doesn't currently engage in meaningful discussions of race and equity, specifically discussing issues of inequity across difference.

2) Learn different styles of listening, their importance and how to apply them within their own context. Define race, racism, oppression and white privilege and understand how it is institutionalized in all schools and school systems.

3) Begin to develop and use a set of tools as a Leader for Equity that can be taken back to your schools and school systems. Leaders of Equity will create an intentional equity focus shared by their entire education community.
